New Art In Residence Program in Plovdiv, Bulgaria

“Gallery in the Garden” is a unique place in the city of Plovdiv (Bulgaria) - the oldest city in Europe and one of the oldest in the whole world with more than 200 archeological sites dating from 6 000 years. Recently low cost airline Rayanair started flights from London, Barcelona and Frankfurt. (distance to the airport 15 km.)The Gallery in The Garden hosts symposiums, art courses and has an interesting collection of pictures and sculptures. Gallery space for exhibits and events, networking possibilities could help participants enter the cultural and social scenes of the city.
The studios are located close to the city centre of Plovdiv, where there is a strong cultural infrastructure. Plovdiv is probably the city with the most artists and galleries per citizen in Europe...
Gallery in The Garden offers residencies to artists from all disciplines, established and young. Accomodition for up to 3 artists for up to 2 months in new build apartments situated in a landscaped garden. At the end of their stay (as option) the artists are offered an exhibition.
Fees charged by weekend/week/ month- E150/350/800. However, we are open to discuss some ways to lower the fees. The residency fee includes: accommodation in a double room, electricity, water, heating and final cleaning. Artists could come with spouses/family. Additional person E50.00. Free: wireless internet, bottle of mineral water daily, welcome bottle of wine and organic seasonal fruits. For a small fee: use of large outdoor swimming pool, sauna, cross trainer in the house, trips to point of interest.
