Platform Istikshaf – Artistic Mobility and trans-Mediterranean cooperation – Workshop - Roubaix, France – 24/06/2011 (version française ci-dessous)

The Roberto Cimetta Fund (RCF), international non-profit making organisation for the mobility of artists and cultural operators from Europe, the Arab world and the Balkans along with the Regional Council Nord-Pas de Calais are pleased to announce that a workshop will be held for mobile artists and cultural operators at the Condition Publique, cultural factory in Roubaix, France on Friday 24th June 2011.

This workshop is taking place within the framework of the « Istikshaf[1] » platform, a project that started in January 2010 and that is backed by the Anna Lindh Foundation. This platform groups together operators that support artistic and cultural mobility between the North, the South and the East Mediterranean. The platform offers the grantees of the RCF and the Safar Fund the opportunity to share experiences and ideas on mobility during workshops in order to suggest improvements for transcultural exchange and favour the setting up of cooperation projects.

Fifteen grantees of the Roberto Cimetta Fund will be present from the following countries: Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Rumania, France and Palestine. The first session will be run by Donato Giuliani (Regional Council Nord-Pas de Calais) and Julie Chenot (Marseille-Provence 2013) ion tools for cooperation and the role of local and regional authorities. Ahmed El Attar (Studio Emad Eddin, Cairo) will run the second session entitled “Artistic and cultural exchange North<>South/East<>South». At the end of the day, Ferdinand Richard, chairman of RCF, will moderate a round table discussion to elaborate recommendations. Three Palestinian grantees of the Cimetta Fund, in residence in Lille during the month of June will also take part as well as local artists and operators from the Nord-Pas de Calais region.

Through meetings such as this one, the Roberto Cimetta Fund hopes, together with its partners, to create the conditions that open up opportunities for mobility and cooperation particularly for artists from the neighbouring countries in the Arab world and in the Balkans.
