Cultural Policy Research Award – Call for submission

The European Cultural Foundation (ECF), the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond and ENCATC have launched the call for applications for the 2011 Cultural Policy Research Award.

The winner o the CPR Award 2011, worth 10.000 Euro, will be publicly announced on 12 October 2011 at the opening of the 19th ENCATC Annual Conference “CultureForecast” Helsinki, Finland (12-14 October 2011).

The Cultural Policy Research Award was launched in 2004 by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF) and the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and since 2008, is developed in partnership with and managed by ENCATC. Through the CPRA annual competition, the programme partners aim to encourage and enable cultural policy researchers to undertake comparative and cross-cultural applied research that can inform policymaking and benefit practitioners active in the field. The Award is devoted to research projects which shed light on contemporary European cultural issues and challenges.

The high profile international Jury includes: Lluís Bonet – President (University of Barcelona, Spain), Milena Dragićević Šešić (University of Arts, Belgrade, Serbia) Ritva Mitchell (Cupore, Finland), Jacques Bonniel (Universite Lyon 2, France), Mikhail Gnedovsky (Cultural Policy Institute, Russia), Therese Kaufmann (eipcp, Austria) and Eleonora Belfiore (University of Warwick, UK).

Candidates (who must hold an M.A. level degree in social sciences, art & humanities, or public policy research, and must be no older than 35 at the time of applying) will be assessed according to their qualifications, the relevance of their research project to cultural policy issues, and their vision of how policy recommendations could be implemented.

The CPRA represents a unique opportunity for young reserchers seeking to make a break into the research field and contribute to the production of new knowledge. In adddition to providing the financial support needed to carry out the proposed research project, the award also helps young researchers in gaining visibility and recognition.

For the year 2011 applications must be submitted between February 16th and May 30th 2011 through the online application form on the CPR Award website. Before applying, candidates arestrongly advised to consult the website for advice on how to prepare their applications.The 6 finalists which are selected amongst all the CPRA applicants will also be invited to attend theYoung Cultural Policy Researchers Forum (YCPR Forum). Funded by the ECF, and developed inpartnership with ENCATC, the 5th YCPR Forum
(11-12 October 2011) will take place alongside theENCATC Annual Conference in Helsinki and will provide young cultural researchers with the chanceto come together face to face and discuss themes, ideas and methodologies of common interest.
