Source http://www.eukn.orgThe 3rd annual conference of the European Urban Knowledge Network (EUKN) will be organised in close cooperation with Hungarian partners – the Ministry of National Development and Economy and VÁTI, Hungarian non-profit ltd for Regional Development and Town Planning– and Dutch partners, the Ministries of the Interior and Housing and Nicis Institute.
The 3rd annual EUKN conference brings together stakeholders for an interactive exchange of strategies, experiences and hands-on knowledge on demographic change. All over Europe, cities need to cope with the effects of demographic change. Ageing and migration have a huge impact on the social, economic and environmental fabric of our cities. Some cities have implemented successful strategies. Others are still finding their way.
This two-day conference will give an overview of the different forms of demographic change, from ageing to migration, and the effects of both shrinking and rapid growth of cities and urban regions. Experts from different countries across Europe will discuss current developments at different policy levels (EU, national and regional). Interactive sessions will help you to discover what works and what does not work in practice. Visits to projects in Budapest and presentations of good practices from all over Europe will give you a deeper insight in concrete instruments which might further strengthen the effectiveness of your own policy initiatives. The conference will also offer many informal opportunities for knowledge exchange and networking, including a boat trip with dinner and drinks on the Danube river.
Fee: €70,- (including conference dinner, two lunches and a boat tour)
Deadline for registration: 30 August 2010
