Dünya Basın Fotoğrafları 2009 Sergisi, 22 Aralık 2009-12 Ocak 2010 tarihleri arasında Forum İstanbul’a konuk oluyor. Basın fotoğrafları dalında yapılan uluslararası yarışmanın ödüllü fotoğraflarını içeren sergi yıl boyunca dünyanın çeşitli kentlerini gezdi. Bu yılki sergi 10 kategoride 198 ödüllü fotoğraftan oluşuyor. Foto muhabirliğinin bir yıllık güncesi sayılabilecek sergi, aynı zamanda bu sektörde standardı belirliyor.
Forum İstanbul ve Hollanda Kraliyeti İstanbul Başkonsolosluğu katkılarıyla İstanbul’a getirilen serginin açılışı, Hollanda Kraliyeti İstanbul Başkonsolosu Drs. Onno Kevers tarafından yapılacak.
Sergi süresince, Türkiye Gazeteciler Cemiyeti ve Türkiye Foto Muhabirleri Derneği ile ortaklaşa “Alışveriş ve Yaşam” konulu bir fotoğraf yarışması da düzenlenecek.
Her yıl dünyanın dört bir yanından gönderilen fotoğraflar 13 kişilik bağımsız uluslararası bir jüri tarafından 10 farklı kategoride değerlendiriliyor. Bu yılki yarışmaya 124 ülkeden 5.508 fotoğrafçı tarafından gönderilen 96.268 fotoğraf katıldı. Sergi bu yıl tüm dünyada yaklaşık yüz yerde sergilendi.
Canon ve TNT’nin sponsorluğu ve Geniş Açı Proje Ofisi’nin katkıları ile desteklenen sergi, 12 Ocak’a kadar Forum İstanbul’da izlenebilecek.

The World Press Photo 2009 Exhibition can be seen from 22nd of December to 12th of January in Forum Istanbul in Bayrampasa. This traveling exhibition, unique in its kind, is the result of a worldwide annual contest on press photography and is brought to Istanbul with the support of Forum Istanbul and Kingdom of the Netherlands Consulate-General Istanbul. The exhibition will be officially opened by Consul General in Istanbul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Drs. Onno Kervers.
Each year, an independent international jury, consisting of thirteen members, judges the entries in ten different categories, submitted by photojournalists, agencies, newspapers and magazines from all corners of the world. This year’s competition attracted 5,508 photographers from 124 countries. In total 96,268 images were entered in the contest.
The annual exhibition is shown this year at about 100 venues all over the world. This year’s exhibition contains 196 photographs. It is an annual public showcase for photojournalism comprising the year’s winning photo, together with award-winning images from each of the ten contest categories. The high quality of photojournalism involved is considered to set a standard in the field.
World Press Photo is an independent, nonprofit organization based in Amsterdam, where World Press Photo was founded in 1955. Its main aim is to support and promote internationally the work of professional press photographers. Over the years, World Press Photo has evolved into an independent platform for photojournalism and the free exchange of information.
In order to realize its objectives, World Press Photo organizes the world’s largest and most prestigious annual press photography contest. Educational project play an important role in World Press Photo’s activities. Seminars and workshops open to individual photographers, photo agencies and picture editors are organized in developing countries. The annual Joop Swart Masterclass, held in the Netherlands, is aimed at talented photographers at the start of their careers. They receive practical instruction and professional advice from leaders in the profession.
World Press Photo receives support from the Dutch Postcode Lottery and is sponsored worldwide by Canon and TNT. Additionally the Istanbul exhibition is made possible with the support of Genis Aci Project Office.
